2026 Spanish MTB XCM Championships
XXV Paterna Bike Marathon

1. Object and organisation
This regulation governs the test “Paterna Bike Marathon” (25th edition), included in the RFEC calendar as Spanish BTT XCM Championship (Cross Country Marathon).
Organise Extremely, in coordination with the Esteemed City Council of Paterna del Campo and with the support of collaborating institutions and entities.
2. Applicable regulations
The test will be governed by:
- UCI Cycling Regulations (MTB discipline).
- RFEC Technical and Specific Regulations for MTB Tests and Spanish Championships.
- Regulations of the Andalusian Cycling Federation, as well as any applicable provisions.

16 April 2026 (Thursday)
- 18:00 – Road Safety and Education Workshop (Children/Family).
- 19:00 – Talk “Nutrition and performance in MTB” for women.
17 April 2026 (Friday)
- 13:30 – Presentation / press conference.
- 17:00 – Race Office Opens – bib collection.
- 17:30 – The Pinguete Challenge by Specialized.
- 19:00 – Mini Kids / skills gymkhana.
- 19:30 – Presentation of trophies for the “El Pinguete Challenge by Specialized”.
- 20:00 – Bib collection closes.
- 20:00 – Technical brief – Municipal Market Multipurpose Hall.
18 April 2026 (Saturday)
- 07:30 – Race Office opens – collection of race numbers.
- 08:20 – Opening of exit drawers.
- 08:50 – Ceremonial ribbon cutting.
- 09:00 – Departure Spanish BTT XCM Championship.
- 09:10 – Spanish BTT XCM Championship Departure (women's block).
- 09:20 – Departure of the cycle tour (non-competitive).
- 09:30 – Departure Short Route (non-competitive).
- 12:55 (approx.) – Arrival of the first runner.
- 15:00 – Presentation of trophies and awarding of Spanish Champions' jerseys.
- 17:00 – Finish control closing.
19 April 2026 (Sunday)
- 10:00 – Social Ride by Club El Cañonazo.
4. Modalities and routes
The test will feature the following modalities:
- Spanish BTT XCM Championship (competitive) 105 km y +2,700 m (approx.).
- Cycle touring route 78 km and +1,800m (approx.).
- Short non-competitive route 55 km y +1,200 m (approx.).
The cycle touring and short route formats are non-competitive and are not part of the Spanish Championship; they do not compete for titles or jerseys and their classification, if applicable, will be purely for information.
The routes will be clearly signposted. However, it is recommended to have the GPS track (GPX) loaded and active during the event, which will be published beforehand.
5. Registrations
The registration will be carried out through the official platform indicated by the organisation. Limited to a maximum of 1,000 registrations.
Installments and periods
- £30 from 4 February 2026 to 31 March 2026.
- £40 from 1 April 2026 to 14 April 2026.
- 1-day licence (non-federated): €15 (available exclusively for non-competitive events: cyclotourism route and short route).
- Optional commemorative jersey: €35.
All runners will be informed of the latest date to collect their official jerseys on the day of the event; participants who purchase them after this date will have them sent to their homes.
Participants registering with less than 15 days' notice will not be guaranteed the runner's bag. No registrations will be accepted on the day of the event.
The registration fee entitles participants to take part in the race, use all services provided by the Organisers for participants, and receive a welcome pack with commemorative gifts.
Registration will be valid upon confirmation of payment. Bib collection at the Race Office as per the Schedule. It is mandatory to wear the bib facing forward and the chip correctly installed; any tampering or incorrect placement will invalidate your time.
6. Categories
The official categories established by the RFEC for Spanish XCM Championships are being called, including, among others:
- Elite Men / Elite Women / UCI Elite (if applicable).
- Under-23 men / Under-23 women.
- Master 30 / Master 30 female.
- Master 40 / Master 40 women.
- Master 50 / Master 50 women.
- Master 60 / Master 60 women.
- Cycle tourists (non-competitive, according to registration).
7. Grille and output drawers
The grid formation will be carried out in accordance with RFEC regulations for XCM (men's and women's blocks), taking into account criteria such as reigning champion, UCI points, national rankings, and autonomous selections.
The organisation will publish the draw and call order in advance. Expected departure times:
- 09:00 – Men's Block (Championship).
- 09:10 – Women’s block (Championship).
- 09:20 – Cycle tourer.
- 09:30 – Short route.
Schedules may be adjusted as indicated by the Technical Jury for organisational or safety reasons. A minimum separation of 10 minutes will be observed between blocks.
8. Refuelling and Technical Zones
The tour will include the following planned stops:
- AV - PK 28
- ZT 1 – PK 31
- AV – PK 44
- AV / ZT 2 – PK 71.5
- AV – PK 91,5
- ZT 3 - PK 98
At the aid stations, the organisers will not provide any cups or bottles, nor will it be permitted to drink directly from the large containers. Each participant must therefore bring their own receptacle. It is also recommended to carry liquid and some energy food.
All riders receiving assistance must be accredited. Assistance will only be permitted in the designated technical zones.
9. Control closure and maximum times
As a general rule, an official control closure is established calculated as an 80%% increase on the time of the first athlete across the finish line, applied separately to men and women, except in specific cases that prevent its application.
For organisational purposes, the goal control closure is fixed at 17:00.The organisation may establish intermediate controls and/or diversions to an alternative route for safety reasons.
10. Safety and healthcare
The event will be supported by security and medical services, including a medical team, ambulances, and organisational staff, as well as law enforcement, in accordance with the approved security plan.
Safety measures
- Approved helmets are mandatory for the entire duration of the event.
- Essential basic bicycle repair kit.
- It is compulsory to carry a charged mobile phone at the start of the race and to demonstrate that the battery has not run out at the end of the race.
- We recommend bringing a small first-aid kit.
- The bib will feature the necessary telephone numbers in case of an emergency.
- It will be the rider's responsibility to ensure they are correctly protected and equipped, and no claims will be accepted for injuries resulting from negligence in this regard.
11. Rankings and awards
The corresponding titles, jerseys, and trophies will be awarded Spanish MTB XCM Championship in the official categories. The classifications and ceremonies will be held according to the official programme and the decisions of the stewards' panel.
12. Environment
Mountain biking takes place in direct contact with nature. It is everyone's responsibility to minimise the impact of this sport on the environment, especially given the area's high ecological value.
- Avoid generating litter and only dispose of it in designated areas.
- Respect pedestrians and other users of the environment.
- Be careful with animals and do not leave the marked path.
- Do not trespass on private property or wild camp.
- Do not pour oil or leave parts or spares in the woods.
- Respect the instructions of the authorities and organisation.
- Depositing waste outside designated areas is prohibited: penalty or disqualification.
13. Timing, times and cuts
Timing
The race will feature a timing company. Participants who do not follow the established route or fail to pass through the checkpoints will be disqualified.
Upon completion of the route, the fastest runners will be checked using the recorded times. Runners who are out of control or DNF (Did Not Finish) will be able to continue and be considered Finishers until the stipulated control closing time (17:00).
There will be different cut-off points established by the organisation, which will be communicated in advance, offering alternative routes to those who do not arrive on time.
Cutting times
Along the route, time checks will be established which will be indicated on the route card and regulations. Any runner who does not arrive within the limit must compulsorily take the alternative route, remaining disqualified from the competitive event.
14. Registration refund policy
The following returns policy is established:
- Up to 30 days before the test: 80 %.
- From 29 to 15 days before the test: 50 %.
- 14 to 8 days before the test: 25 %.
- From 8 days before the test: 0 %.
In the event of the test being suspended or postponed, the organisers will refund the full registration fee, except for €5 per athlete to cover administrative costs.
In the event of serious injury or illness, with prior medical justification, the full registration fee will be refunded.
The organisation reserves the right to suspend the trial or timing due to force majeure or unforeseen circumstances (authorities, adverse weather, etc.). In such cases, the registration fee will not be refunded.
15. Claims
Claims relating to the development of or behaviour by athletes shall be submitted to the Stewards' Panel within the time limits stipulated by the current regulations.
16. Data protection and image rights
Data controller Extremely (the “Organisation”).
Purpose Registration management, participant control, insurance, lists, rankings, event-related communications, and compliance with legal and federative obligations.
Legal basis performance of the contractual relationship, legal compliance, legitimate interest in the management and security of the event and consent where applicable.
Recipients RFEC/FAC, insurance provider, essential suppliers (timing, registration platform, communication) and competent authorities.
Conservation for the time necessary for the indicated purposes and applicable legal deadlines.
Rights access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability by request to staff@extremenamente.com.Potential claim to the AEPD.
Image rights Registration implies authorisation for the participant's image and/or voice (photo and video) to be captured and used during the event, for informative and promotional dissemination on the web, social media, press releases, and materials belonging to the Organisation and collaborating entities, without financial compensation.
17. Amendments and force majeure
The Organisation, on the instruction of the Technical Jury or for safety reasons, may modify schedules, routes, control points or neutralise/suspend the event if circumstances require (adverse weather, incidents, instructions from a competent authority, etc.).
18. Acceptance
Registration for the test implies full knowledge and acceptance of these regulations, as well as the applicable RFEC/UCI regulations.
19. Procedure in case of discontinuation
Any participant who decides to withdraw has the obligation to inform the organiser and/or Technical Jury via the designated channels (emergency telephone number printed on the bib). If this is not communicated and a search or rescue operation is initiated, the cost may be passed on to the participant.
20. Responsibilities of Brokers
Each runner will be responsible for their participation in the race and will assess whether they should or can continue, unless the race director decides otherwise for safety reasons.
The participant declares to have undergone adequate training and not to suffer from any injury that could be aggravated, accepting the risks inherent in an event open to traffic.
21. Accident insurance
The event includes accident insurance for registered participants. The insurance covers accidents, not all types of incidents. If necessary, medical services will transfer the participant to the designated centre to assess coverage.
